As a cartoonist, I observe people’s behavior. How they stand, how they act, what they say. Sometimes I might try to understand why people do what they do, but more often than not, that’s a lost cause. However, this new online series I am part of tries to do that, and I find a way to draw about these odd things we humans do.

Martin and me.

When Danish best-selling author Martin Lindstrom wrote me and asked if I wanted to collaborate on a series titled, “Why Do We?” I pretty much said yes right away. What sealed the deal was he wanted me to live-draw during each episode, as well as provide my own commentary at times. The Newsweek series is video interviews with experts; so far there are five episodes. We will be taping a second season soon. Each has a very unusual premise that perhaps we all can relate to.
