Trump’s Racism Is Piercing

Our country may be bleeding

When I heard over the weekend what Donald Trump said about our four minority Congresswomen, and when I heard him double down on his comments today, and proceed to call them racist, I was horrified. Just moments ago at a press conference, when asked about his statements, he continued by saying all he “hears from them is criticism,” and, they “can leave if they want.” Trump cast the four women as “other,” outsiders, non-American; he implied they could not be trusted, they “don’t love America.”

This sounds like demagoguery, and racist, manipulative tactics. His words are an attempt to threaten others from criticizing him or our government, which every American has the right to do.

I did not know how I was going to approach this behavior in a drawing, intellectually I could not get my head around it. So I just began drawing. The above is what came out.

We need to stop the bleeding. As I see it, the only way to stop it is if the Repbulican leaders speak out against this hatred, take a stand and join the Democrats in condemning Trump’s words.
