Trump Tricks
While the Democrats have fun in Chicago
The Democratic National Convention starts tomorrow. I will be covering it by doing live drawings of the speakers and more during prime-time, and each night, I will provide a synopsis of what I saw. I drew the Republican Convention several weeks ago, a post for each of the four days, here was day one. Those four days were painful to watch; these upcoming four days will be a lot of fun. And, yes, joyous. In 2016, I attended the DNC in person and drew — it was fascinating. Hillary Clinton was the nominee that year and while I didn’t feel it was “‘joyous” in the sense we feel now, there was a buzz in the air. A woman might be elected President. This time, it really might happen.
There will be a buzz in the air this time, for sure. I can feel it and I’m not in Chicago! The Washington Post has a helpful guide to watching this week.
I worry, of course. While the Democrats will be having a fun week, I fear the Republicans will be plotting. Scheming. Trump will have some rallies, apparently, because he doesn’t want to give up the spotlight. But you know what I mean about the worry. It’s like when you were little, and your sibling is quiet for too long in the other room, you suspect some trick is going to be played on you at any moment.
