Trump Is Trying To Create Chaos
A quick sketch of two woman I just saw on the streets of Paris today.
This past weekend in France, I talked with numerous international editorial cartoonists about what’s happening in our country. They are worried, and asked me questions. What I sensed overall from them was a feeling that it was a fait-accompli, that Trump will become the autocrat he seeks to be. It may be that the media here is not reporting the details of the resistance. I tried to reassure them that there is hope.
But as I returned to view the news in-depth after two days at an international cartoon festival, I must admit I was alarmed. Here is some of what I missed and what I see today in the news.
A judge blocked Trump’s attempts to send National Guard to Portland, Oregon. So Trump said he was going to deploy California National Guard to Portland instead. The judge then blocked that, accusing Trump of circumventing his order. Trump is also considering sending Texas troops to Chicago.
