Domestic Abuse During The Pandemic

In a report in The New York Times, I learned that in the UK, at least twenty-six women and girls were violently killed by significant others in the home since the start of the pandemic lockdown. Countless others are trapped with abusive partners.

The lockdown is difficult for many, but tragically and often fatally so for those in abusive relationships. China reports domestic violence has increased triplefold. Some countries planned for this type of increase, such as New Zealand, Germany and others. It is something that needs more attention. What’s clear is this problem is a global problem that is exacerbated by the stresses of the pandemic.

I drew this in hopes of shining a stonger light on global domestic abuse.
