The Weinstein “Whisper” Gets Very Loud

When will we change the culture?

Every time a powerful man is accused of sexual abuse, groping, harassment, manipulation, and he is “taken down” by the press and others, we hope the behavior will change across the board. I think there have been enough recent accounts in the press (Cosby, Ailes, O’Reilly) of the kind of repeated harassment behavior we are hearing came from the film producer Harvey Weinstein; maybe things will shift. Maybe women in the US can begin to take back their bodies. Three women have come forward to acuse Weinstein of rape; sadly, this may lead to change more swiftly than accusations of harrassment.

The systemic abuse of women points to the fact that we live in a rape culture.

It’s time to change the culture.
