The End of America First
Biden’s foreign policy will be a change from isolationism to compassion and working together
Within a few days of being elected President of The United States, President-Elect Joe Biden signaled a big change in how the US will approach foreign policy. In a speech yesterday, he said he spoke to world leaders and told them “we are back in the game.” I take that to mean we will work with our allies and join the civilized world in climate change work, combating terrorism, giving aid to developing nations, and more.
Here is the article in The New York Times about this new change of direction. It is a welcome reversal from the Trump era, and one that helps unite the world. We are a rich and compassionate country, and our engagement with other countries should not be about “us first;” rather it should be about helping others.
