Last night, Trump and his Maga followers gathered in the middle of Manhattan for a rally in Madison Square Garden. A slew of 30 speakers took the stage before Trump and much of what they said was loudly, blatently racist, vulgar, hateful, misogynistic, bigoted, crude. One speaker, supposedly a comedian, went after Puerto Rico, and the Latino and Black communities. Jews were attacked. Kamala Harris was called the anti Christ, while waving a crucafix. I was following the unfolding of this nightmare gathering on twitter, as I landed at JFK and took a taxi into Manhattan. I tried to imagine the crowds around MSG, an area I frequent becuase it is where the city’s Amtrak station is. I gave me chills. Some are comparing it to a Hitler rally at the same location in 1939. Trump wore a different Maga hat, black with gold lettering, the colors of the Proud Boys. Perhaps a symbolic choice to the neo-fascist group to “stand back and stand by,” as he said in 2020.

Famous Puerto Rican celebrities like Ricky Martin and others came out to profess their support for Harris, denouncing the hate. Here is a powerful video by journalist Anna Navaro:
