Summer Choice

On Friday, Kamala Harris got enough votes to become the offical Democratic nominee for President, making history yet again! While not the first woman to reach this peak, of course, she is the first Black woman and the first woman of Southeast Asian descent to be the nominee.

I keep waiting for her announcement of who will be her running mate. If I were a betting person, which I am not, I wouldn’t bet anything. It’s so hard to know. But….I kinda like Josh Shapiro, the Govenor of Pennsylvania. He’s energetic and tough and has a great smile. My only concern is that his experience as a govenor is only 2 years. Kamala might pick Mark Kelly, Senator of Arizona. He was a Navy Captain and has four years experience in government as a Senator. He was an astronaut, which would be kinda cool for a Veep. His wife is Gabby Giffords, the House member who was shot and who had a tremendous journey back to speaking and walking again (there’s a great documentary about her, and Mark, called Gabby Giffords Won’t Back Down). His experience with gun control is very personal. He also has a lot of experience on border issues, which I suppose might help Kamala who is depicted as a failer “border czar” by the GOP.

Those are my two picks. Who do you think will be the lucky one to run with Kamala?
