Trump Criminal Trial Day 14

My takeaway from the trial yesterday in Manhattan was simply that Stormy Daniels successfully stood her ground as she was under assault from the defense. There was a lot of slut shaming and innuendo about adult film star Daniels’ character and choice of profession. The defense attorney cross examined her and implied she is sleazy, conniving, money grubbing, a sexual preditor. Legal analysts are saying that it feels like Trump is very much directing his lawyers as to how to aggressively attack. The NY Times reporter Maggie Haberman astutely observed, “His goal is not to make people think he’s pure so much as his goal is to suggest his antagonists are all impure.”

I thought I’d do a drawing of some of Daniels’ words from her testimony today. She is a strong, intelligent, gutsy woman.

Why her a testimony is so important: Trump claims he never had sex with her. She has convincingly proved otherwise in her appearance today and on Tuesday. She makes Trump look small and pathetic.

The defense tried again for a mistrial, Judge Merchan denied the request. The defense also asked that the gag order be eased so that Trump could respond to Daniels’ testimony. Also denied.

It was not a good day for the defense. But in order to acquit, all they need is one juror to be doubting.

We just won’t know.
