No Wave Of Any Kind Has Benefits

Democracy should not be exciting

If you think about waves literally, they are kind of thrilling. They can be beautiful. They bring shiny shells to our feet. They bring awe.

But they also can bring danger. They can bring surfers who are hot dogging, for one thing. Waves can be trouble.

The way I figure it, Democracy needs less excitment than we’ve seen in the last few years. In action, it is a beautiful thing to watch Democracy, and I even say that about the outcome of January 6th. It worked, after some inial DRAMA.

Would it have been fun to have a Blue Wave? Indeed it would have been. But I didn’t expect one. And our country is populated by all kinds of different people, and we should be happy about that diversity. It’s who we are.

What we need is normalcy, and I think that’s what the voters said with their votes yesterday. No fancy BIG anything, anymore. No drama, just a working government, please. I think that’s what the voters said when they elected Joe Biden as President, and that’s what I think was said yesterday. Particularly when you consider that the midterms of a party that holds the Presidency are usually bad news for that party. It wasn’t this midterm.

So hopefully, no wave — of any color — means we can look forward to good things for our country.
