More Gun Violence
Our country is dripping blood
When I heard about the mass shooting in El Paso, Texas and then 24 hours later, the mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio, I was heartbroken. When will this end? How do we get out of this nightmare?
Gun reform. Stand up to the gun lobby. Some say it’s too late- there are already too many guns out there. It’s never too late.
And we have to stop the hate-filled language coming out of the White House by electing a new president.
When I knew I had to draw something about these horrific two events — which are being rightfully called “domestic terrorism” — all I could conjure up in my mind’s eye was blood. Massive amounts of blood. And then I connected that vision to the stripes on our flag and drew the drawing above. I decided not to color in the gun, giving the image perhaps more power in the redness of the blood and stripes. Simplicity is what I strive for in an image, it often can be more powerful.
Our country, our democracy, is dripping blood and we have to find an answer.
