The House January 6th Committee had its final hearing this wee, and I drew a few highlights. If you have been following the hearings all along, today was a consolidation of the things that happened, and much of what was said and presented would have been familiar to you. But what the committee did today was lay out why they are recommending criminal referral to the Justice Department. And since it was an offical meeting, they voted on the criminal referral on camera. As the Washington Post puts it, The January 6th Committee Refers Trump to the Justice Department for Prosecution.

Here are the four statutes :

  1. Assisting or aiding an insurrection
  2. Obstruction of an official proceeding
  3. Conspiracy to make false statement
  4. Conspiracy to defraud the US
