It’s About Control

Today, the Supreme Court unanimously ruled in favor of continued access to the abortion pill by rejecting the case brought before it. This is good news. However, the pill still remains unavailable to women in the 14 states that prohibit abortion. The drug, mifepristone, is very safe to use. The justices felt that the plaintiffs, who wanted to severly restrict access of the drug, did not have standing to sue.

Abortion rights activists say we are not out of the woods. Anti-abortion forces will continue to fight against a woman’s right to control over her own body. A New York Times report stated that 171,000 women had to travel for an abortion this past year. The map below was so insightful to me, I wanted to share it.

I did a drawing about it.

Taking trips should be for vacation, not for an abortion.

If Donald Trump is elected president, you can be sure he will enact a national ban on abortions. He and the radical religious right of the Republican Party want to control women’s bodies, women’s movements, women’s freedom. They would control our speech too, if they could. And they might try.

I don’t know what else to say. We have to stop him.
