Hiding Won’t Help

Trump won’t just disappear

It’s clear to me that the only people who can now make sure that our democracy is safe is us. The majority of Supreme Court is on Donald Trump’s side, as we witnessed in a ruling yesterday saying they would hear Trump’s immunity claim on April 16th, bolstering his delay strategy. It’s all but certain he will not face trial in the January 6th case before election day. Here are things we can do:

  1. vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on election day
  2. keep talking and writing, posting on social media that Trump is a menace
  3. read the news with a critical eye
  4. don’t give up hope

After hearing the news the other night, I listened to pundits try to explain what happened — they don’t even get it. SCOTUS is so partisan. I mean we knew that, but this makes it even more obvious. All the lawyers on tv were saying that they will most probably rule ultimately that the President does not have immunity, so why wait? So that he can win the election and then pardon himself.

I do think come November if we re-elect Biden and Harris in a huge landslide, we can get beyond this. Trump will still try to steal the election again, and we have to be on the alert for violence like in 2020. But we will be ready.
