We are in our darkest hour

Last night, I started watching the Darkest Hour, a great film about WInston Churchill during WW II, starring Gary Oldman. Nothing new here, but it is so clear to me that we are right now in our darkest hour. I know many, many people are doing heroic things to try to stop Trump, stop his autocrat architects, the evil masterminds of Project 2025; but at times it seem so piecemeal. Where is our Churchill? He saw the danger of Hitler clearly. As he made clear right after he became Prime Minister, there is no negotiating with Hitler.

We have to fight.

This came up on my social media today:

Our lives are so scattered, and our media is fractured. This makes it difficult for one person to lead like Churchill did. All he had was a radio broadcast — which was a huge tool during the war — and he had news media as well. And his genius, his compassion. Powerhouses like Pritzker, Newsom and others are trying. We need to amplify their words. But I want to hear more from others, like Obama, Clinton, Hochul, Booker, Buttigieg…
