Donald and Nancy
House of Representative Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi never wanted to go the Impeachment route, she believed it would be divisive. But her hand was forced when evidence came forward that President Trump withheld promised, Congress-approved aid to Ukraine in exchange for a domestic political favor. The House, with Pelosi’s leadership, then chose to begin the process of Impeachment. Voted and approved upon, Ms. Pelois is holding onto the Articles of Impeachment (not sending them to the Senate which is supposed to conduct a trial), hoping to negotiate a fair trail in the Senate. Senate Leader Mitch McConnell and his majority of Republicans plan to exonerate the President in a very fast and witness-free trial. We will see if she has any leverage — it’s very possible that even withholding the articles, Ms. Pelosi has none.
In coverage of the House Impeachment Hearings — my live-drawings and commentary, (as written in here on Medium) — I try to be non-partisan. In my political cartoons I try to be measured while simultaneously stating (drawing) what I think and feel as an observer. The above animation is simply my expression of what I believe at least half the country feels (polls show this). No hatred here. When asked by a reporter, Ms. Pelosi said she was raised a good Catholic and doesn’t hate anyone. And I am sure she does not wish ill upon the President.
But she, and many others, probably wish he just go away.
Ms. Pelosi has wonderful skills as a leader. Magical powers? I’m not so sure, but one can wonder.
