A Moment in NYC

Live drawing a young couple

I realize I have no idea what these two were saying to each other, nor how they felt about each other. But sitting and drawing them for forty five minutes, I was able to watch the body language, the hand motions, the facial expressions as they seemingly enjoyed each other’s company. They were animated and talkative. They held hads briefly. The woman’s position changed frequently, his did not, although he leaned into and out from his friend repeatedly.

I feel as though I was watching them fall in love.

It’s pure joy fo rme to live draw in NYC. But sometimes I happen on a moment, one like this, where I am not just capturing a person or people, but something else.

That’s what New York is, of course. A million moments.
